Fantastic range, excellent quality!

I was looking for some unique nature and wildlife images for my website, and Alamy delivered big time! I found a ton of options that I couldn't find anywhere else, including some really stunning panoramic images. The search filters worked great, and it was super easy to navigate the site. I bought a credit pack, which made the pricing much better. The images downloaded instantly and looked amazing. I'm so happy with my purchase; I'll definitely be back for more and have already told my colleague about it!

Decent images, a bit pricey

I picked up some editorial photography for a project I was working on. The selection was good, and I found exactly what I needed. Download was quick, and the images were high resolution. My only real gripe is the pricing; it felt a little high compared to other sites I've used. I managed to get a small discount for signing up for the newsletter, which helped. Overall, a solid experience, but I'll probably compare prices next time for larger purchases.

Good stock photos, quick download

I bought a few royalty free images last week. The download process was easy, and the quality was as expected. It was a fast transaction. I'd use them again for sure when I need more.

anyone used Alamy for commercial stuff? like, for ads or a product? just want to make sure i won't get hit with some weird legal thing later.

R Ryan Ito 1 month ago
Yeah, that's what they're for, mostly. You just gotta make sure you're getting the right license. Read the terms for the specific image you're looking at, especially if it's 'editorial only' or something.

Most of their images are fine for commercial use, but some are clearly marked 'editorial use only' which means no advertising. Just pay attention to the license details before you download.

hey, was looking at some images on Alamy but kinda confused about their pricing. like, what's the deal with Rights Managed vs Royalty Free? which one is generally cheaper or better for a small project?

M Marcus Vargas 2 months ago
RM is usually for specific uses, so it can get pricy if you need it for a lot of stuff or forever. RF is more of a one-time fee for broader use. for small projects, RF is almost always the way to go.

yeah, what the other person said. RF is typically simpler and often cheaper for general use. RM gives you more control and exclusivity sometimes but you pay for each usage. depends on what you're doing really.

what if i buy an image and then realize i don't need it or it's the wrong one? can you even get a refund from Alamy?

J Jared 2 months ago
i think you can, but it's not super straightforward. it depends on why you want the refund and if you've already used the image. check their refund policy on the site, it's usually pretty detailed.

I've heard refunds are possible, but it's not like an Amazon return where you just click a button. You'll likely need to contact their support and explain the situation. Afaik, if you haven't used it or downloaded it incorrectly, you have a better chance.

how does Alamy compare to Shutterstock, like in terms of image quality or selection? been using Shutterstock for a while but always looking for alternatives.

B Ben W. 2 months ago
Alamy definitely has a massive collection, often more unique stuff than Shutterstock. Shutterstock can feel a bit... corporate sometimes. Alamy has more 'real' looking photos imo.

I find Alamy to have a more diverse and less 'stock photo' feel to a lot of their images. Shutterstock has huge numbers but sometimes the quality can be hit or miss. Alamy tends to have more editorial and niche content too.

i just signed up, is there a first purchase discount or anything? i saw something about it but can't find where to apply it.

I Ivy 2 months ago
yeah, new customers usually get like 10-20% off. sometimes it's an auto-applied thing, other times you get a code in your welcome email. check your inbox!

They usually have a first-time user discount. It's often applied at checkout automatically, or they'll send you a promo code. If not, buying a credit pack usually saves you some too, like 30% sometimes compared to buying images one by one.
